Oil on linen panel
16 x 20
I was recently looking at the art of Samuel Bak. A holocaust survivor whose paintings represent his attempts to piece his world back together after being so utterly shattered. His work resonated with me as I feel my world under threat, not piecing it back together but trying to hold it together. So, I copied his painting as art therapy. I added the capitol building in the background.

I Wish I Knew Your Name
Oil on gesso panel
12in x 16in
Another burnt umber underpainting. This was from a modeling session that my painting friend Nancy took a picture of for me. I wish I knew her name.

Chi
Oil on canvas panel
10 in x 10 in
Here is Chi all in burnt umber. Once this dries in about a week I will put in the color. So far I love it. Hope I still do once I add the color. That will be a challenge!

Van
Gouache on illustration board
9 x 12 inches
I haven't done any painting in months because I have been working through some of the drawing courses at Watts Atelier on-line. I am far from finished with them but decided to jump ahead into one of the painting classes. This was an assignment from the Gouache Phase 1 class. I am very happy with it. A few more portraits in black and white and I will move on into color. I have learned so much. It has been terrific.
