Continental Divide

Oil on canvas board
12 x 16

These were beautiful clouds reflected in a lake at the Continental Divide in Colorado. It's about 12,000 feet which makes the air really thin and the sky very bright. Also, it is above tree line which makes it looks a little like an alien landscape.

The sky in the painting isn't quite as purple as it appears in the photo. When I adjust the color in Photoshop to get the purple gray enough then everything else in the painting is too gray. So use your imagination and gray out that purple a bit without graying out the other colors. If anyone out there has any suggestions on how to fix it in Photoshop, I would love to hear.
