"Join Us"
Oil on canvas board
16 x 20

I love to go outside and paint from nature.  But it is so hard. The sun moves, clouds come it, and in a very short time the scene I am painting has completely changed.  It requires both speed and accuracy.  So, I decided to go on to my back porch and paint. I did this over 3 days, going outside at the same time everyday for about a couple hours until I got it.  I think this is my most successful plein air painting yet.

Desert Apples
Oil on canvas board
18 x 24

I am having to much fun with the color. Juxtaposing warm and cool. I hope you enjoy viewing these as much as I enjoy making them.

Oil on canvas panel

Fun fun fun!  I am using more bright color, thicker paint, larger canvases and am having a blast.

Coming into the Light
Oil on canvas panel
18 X 24

Is it OK to say that I just love this one?  It was so much fun to paint.  It's all about the play between warm and cool colors.  Which I learned a lot about recently by attending a painting workshop given by Dan Sahli.  It was terrific!

Supporting Actors
Oil on linen
6.5 x 10

Another fast sketch.  Although the flowers are the stars, I really like the pear and apple.

Chi
Oil on linen
6 x 8

I have been doing quick painting sketches lately. This is one of them and so were the two previous posts.  I really enjoy being fast and not fussing too much with the details. While the drawings might not be so perfect. They have a more painterly feel.

Oil on linen
8 x 8

As promised more of the blue cloth.

Oil on linen on panel
6 x 6

I am trying to be looser and more painterly in my style.  I think this one is a huge improvement on that criteria. I am going to keep working on this, it is much harder than one might think.  I also love the blue cloth so you might be seeing a lot of this background in the near future.

Red Delicious
Oil on canvas board
18 x 24

I was getting some work ready to enter into the Wimberley Valley Art League show and realized I had never photographed or posted this one. I painted it a couple of months ago.
I am also eating an apple right now. I wonder if there is a connection?

The Welcome Tree
Oil on linen
18 X 24

I painted this lone tree once before, a long time ago. It's one of my earliest posts.  A very different mood this time.

A Gray Day
Oil on linen on panel

I just love gray hazy/foggy days. Everything is so soft.  I tried to capture that feeling in this painting.

Private Garden
Oil on linen on panel
18 x 24

I had so much fun making this place up. Based mostly on my previous painting "Goerschneresque". The challenge was making it look like it could exist somewhere on our planet.  Don't know if I pulled it off, but I sure would like to go there, where ever it is.
